A wish for my Treo...
I just recently got a new GMC Yukon XL Denali. Its about as
loaded as they come right down to the center console display
that handles my XM radio, GPS navigation system, and plays DVD
movies (as long as the vehicle in park). I already have a suction
cup mounting solution for my Treo, so my habit is to slide my
Treo into the cradle and use my BT headset anytime I'm driving.
However, as I again noticed the ports on the bottom of the Treo,
I recalled a comment I read on
Treonauts
a long time back about how the 650, LifeDrive, etc had a new
interface that could be used for external video and such down
the road. This got me thinking that it would be really sweet
to have a car cradle-type solution that could render my Treo's
screen onto the console screen of my Yukon. And even better
would be if the touchscreen interface of the built-in console
screen could be used to access my Treo's screen. A rough measurement
shows my Yukon's screen is about 5'' across. I was thinking
that with my Treo dropped into a cradle, it could do quite a
bit. It could:
A) charge the Treo while driving
B) allow me to better see the incoming call information (it
would play right onto the built-in screen); this would be very
handy for call-waiting calls
C) provide better viewing for GPS softwares on my Treo (though
with GPS in my Yukon already, this isn't such a need for myself)
D) allow for better viewing of saved maps and directions, etc
E) ideally, it would also allow the audio to run out to my Yukon's
sound system and thus let me play my MP3's through pTunes (for
those times when XM and the 6 disc changer aren't enough).
