ChatterEmail
v1.1
About a year or so ago, I set out to replace the stock VersaMail
client on my Treo. I tried a few different apps, but it came down
to SnapperMail or ChatterEmail. Interestingly, at the time I tried
them, CE had just added POP support while SE had just added IMAP
support. At the time, my impression was that CE had a wealth of
features, but a lot of instability. SE, on the other hand, had
fewer features, but was much more stable. Thus, I bought SnapperEmail.
About three months ago, I decided to try Chatter again hoping
to see if it was more stable and if I could make use of its extra
features. I downloaded the 1.0.6.4 release and was quite happy
to find that it was very stable. I tried the 30 day demo, and
after 20 days I bought it and uninstalled Snapper. I've used it
for the last three months and it has been great.
About a month ago, I started seeing emails from the CE mailing
list about the pre 1.1 release. Since I need a stable device,
and because earlier tests of CE had resulted in resets, I avoided
the pre 1.1 betas. This last weekend, I saw an email saying that
1.1 was officially here and on Monday I took the plunge and did
the wireless upgrade to 1.1.
Having used it for a few days now, I can say that its faster and
much more reliable. Plus, the new features make it really desirable.
If you have an old version of Chatter or are unhappy with your
current Palm email client, I highly recommend the 1.1 release
of ChatterEmail. Its only guaranteed to work on the Treo600 and
650, but its a very good tool.
