Well,
I've been enjoying my new Sony
Ericsson Akono HBH-662

bluetooth headset for a few days now, and I love this thing.
I had planned to get a new headset for some time now, and then
a few weeks ago I came across a very good review of 8 different
BT headsets over at Treonauts.
Ironically, the very headset I'd been considering got the best
review of the group. I've gone through a few different BT headsets
over the last year or so. Most recently I was using the Motorola
HS820.

It was one of the lighter headsets, but always sort of reminded
me of the original Star Trek communicators. Plus, its light
weight actually made it a little floppy on my ear. Its sound
quality was decent, unless the guy on the other end also had
a BT headset. The new Sony is really nice. Its a tad heavier
than my old Motorola, but its extra weight actually helps it
stay on my ear better. The inner speaker also sticks out a tad
which then sits in the dip in the ear and helps to stay in place
even more. The extra weight took a little getting used to, but
I'm sure its because I was already used to the weight of the
Motorola headset. I'm not one for leaving the headset on my
ear all the time, but I had a hour long phone call the other
day and the headset didn't feel like it was dragging me down.
The sound quality is excellent. In fact, I just made a phone
call from my server room (imagine the background noise of servers
and AC) to another person that also had a BT headset on. I was
surprised that we could actually hear each other. The callerID
must be the best feature, though. Being able to see the incoming
number is a life saver if you recognize it. Unfortunately, my
Treo only has BT 1.1 while the headset supports 1.2. The result
is that only the numbers are shown in the LCD display. I've
been told, but I can't confirm yet, that if its paired with
a phone with BT 1.2 (such as the RAZR) that it will actually
query your address book for the number and show you the name
of the caller if they're in your address book. I can only hope
that my next Treo (670/700) has BT 1.2 as I'd really enjoy that
feature. In short, I can't say anything bad about this headset.
Its weight is good, its size if good, its battery life and call
quality are excellent, and its LCD puts it a step above all
the others.
